With the help of this calculator you can perform several calculations concerning speed.
For a given constant speed you may, for example, calculate the time
needed for a certain distance.
All calculations may also be performed vice versa.
Usage:
Always choose the correct unit in the corresponding pulldownmenu
before you type a value.
At first give the value for the speed. This is either done directly in the
field for the speed v in the middle,
or in the field at the bottom for the reciprocal value 1/v.
Or you calculate the speed by input of the distance s and the time t.
With the input speed you can now perform calculations by typing a time t
and calculate the distance that is covered during this time.
Also calculations vice versa are possible.
After the input of a value the calculation is performed
with the next mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the
"calculate"button.
For calculations with a new value of the speed you can type this into the
field for v or for 1/v. For other inputs click on the "reset" button before.
Example:
At the end of a bicycle race, the peloton has to go several laps of 5.6 km length
and needs about 7 min for each lap. What is the average speed?
If you had made inputs before, click on the "reset" button.
Then choose "km (kilometer)" as unit for the distance in the
corresponding pulldownmenu and type the value of "5.6"
Then type the value for the time ("7") in minutes.
After the next mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the
"calculate"button you can read the value of the speed
(a = 13.333 m/s). With the corresponding pulldownmenu you may also choose
another unit (e. g. 29.826 mi/h).
