Converter for viscosity

Density: g cm-3

For a conversion between dynamic and kinematic viscosity the correct density must be given.
Dynamic viscosity:
N s m-2 = kg m-1 s-1 = Pa s
dyn s cm-2 = g cm-1 s-1 = P
cP = mPa s
kg m-1 h-1
lb ft-1 s-1 = pdl s ft-2
lb in-1 s-1
Kinematic viscosity:
cm2 / s = St
mm2 / s = cSt
m2 / h
in2 / s
ft2 / s
ft2 / h

The results have been rounded to significant digits.

Usage: Type the correct density of the substance into the field at the top and the value of viscosity you want to convert into the field, behind which you find the unit. Click on any empty space in the window or on the "calculate" button. Read the result in the other fields. Use the "reset" button to reset your calculation. Move the mouse over a unit to read its full name.

Example: What is the kinematic viscosity in cm2s-1 of honey with a dynamic viscosity of 600 Poise and a density of 1.42 g cm-3 ? At first type the value for the density (1.42) into the corresponding field. Then type "600" into the field in front of "dyn s cm-2 = g cm-1 s-1 = P". Click on any empty space in the window or on the "calculate" button. Find your result in the field in front of "cm2 / s = St" (422.54 cm2s-1 or stoke).

The correct density is nessesary for a conversion between dynamic and kinematic viscosity and vice versa. For conversions just between units of dynamic viscosity or kinematic viscosity, special converters exist.

Remarks:
- Large and small numbers are written exponentially. As example 2.3e5 = 2.3⋅105 = 230000 or 4.5e-5 = 4.5⋅10-5 = 0.000045.
- There is no warranty for the conversion. Cactus2000 is not responsible for damage of any kind caused by wrong results.
- Please send an email if you have suggestions or if you would like to see more conversions to be included.

- A collection of all Cactus2000-converters running offline may be ordered for a price of € 15.-. A test version is available for download for free.
