This is a converter for units of mass. Non-decimal units are partitioned into the correspondig subunits.
In the U. S. A. the avoirdupois-system is still in use (U. S. customary units). Units larger than pound differ in this system from the units with the same name that are still used in the United Kingdom. (Imperial units).
Only the troy ounce (oz t) from the troy-system is in use today as the common mass unit in the trade with precious metalls. The apothecary system from the United Kingdom is no longer in use.

Usage: Type the known values into the fields in front of the corresponding units. After a mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the "calculate" button the calculation is performed. Read the result.
In the avoirdupois, troy, and apothecary systems you may choose the units for display by a click on the corresponding checkbox. Units not chosen have a darker background. The calculated mass is the sum of all displayed values in a system. The smallest unit in each system is displayed with decimal partitioning. The values in the three SI-units (g, kg, t) each correspond to the total calculated mass.
Move the mouse over a unit or click on it to read its full name. For another calculation just change the input values or you may click the "reset" button, eventually. A previous choice of units is not reset by this.

Example: You want to convert 73 kg into stones and pounds. In the area for the Imperial units choose stones and pounds to be displayed. Type "73" into the field in front of "kg". After a mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the "calculate" button you can read the result. 73 kg corresponds to 11 st and 6.9 lb. In U. S. customary units this would be 160.9 lb.
