Rounding: significant digits.

This calculator allows to determine the volume needed to store the water caught from a certain precipitation by a rectangular area. Calculations vice versa are also possible.

Giesskanne Usage: Always choose the correct unit in the corresponding pull-down-menu before you type a value. For the input of the area, you may either type the lengths of the sides of a rectangle to calculate the area. Or you type in the measure of the area. In this case, the length of the sides of a corresponding square is displayed.
After two values (area, precipitation or volume) have been typed in, the third value is calculated after a mouse click.
All values may be displayed in other units when you choose that unit in the corresponding pull-down menu. Use the "reset" button to reset your calculation.

Example: The forecast predicts 23 mm of rain. What must be the size of a cistern to store the water caught by an area of 110 m²? Type "110" into the field for the area. As unit m² had to be chosen before. Then type the amount of rain ("23") into the corresponding field. Click on any free space of the window or on the "calculate" button. Read the result (e.g. 2530 liter).
