Rounding: significant digits.

With a centrifuge substances with different densities in suspensions, emulsions or gas mixtures are separated. In centrifuges with a different radius you yield the same centrifugal acceleration by varying the rotational speed.

With this calculator you can calculate the needed rotational speed n when the centrifugal acceleration a and the radius r of the centrifuge are given. Calculations vice versa are also possible.

Usage: Always choose the correct unit in the corresponding pull-down-menu before you type a value. Type the given values into the corresponding fields. After a mouse click on any free space of the window or the "calculate"-button the calculation is performed. The fields with the input quantities have a light green background, the background of the output quantities is colored pink.
For another calculation with a value that has been calculated before, click on the radio button in front of the value. The lines with this quantity will be recolored light green and become input values for the next calculation. The calculation is always performed with the two quantities changed last.
Click on the "reset"-button to reset the calculation.

Example: A sample has been separated in a centrifuge with aradius of 12 cm at a rotational speed of 3000 rpm. You want to repeat this separation with a device of 16 cm radius and with the same acceleration.
Type the values for the rotational speed (3000) and the radius (12) into the corresponding fields. After a mouse click on any free space of the window or the "calculate"-button you can read the value of the acceleration (1207.7 G).
Now click on the radio button in front of the acceleration field, to use this value for the next calculation. Type the other value for the radius (16) into the corresponding field. After another mouse click you cal read the result (2598.1 rpm).
In the pull-down menu for the velocity unit you could also choose another unit (e.g. 43.3 rps).
